Objects in Focus-On this Day

Todays blog is an On this Day Object in Focus today.On 22nd November 1825 the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot landed at Rangoon for the second time.

These medals were awarded to Private William Martin and Private Samuel Beecroft. Both lived in Nottinghamshire. Private Beecroft came from Chilwell and Private Martin, from East Bridgford. Both soldiers had a long service and together adds up to 36 years between them.  And both forced to discharge due to disease, Beecroft discharged 1845 and Martin in 1829. 

The medals clasp has the word AVA on and recognises the service in the 1st Burma War (1824-1826).
