Family History Research
Are you looking into your family history?
The Museum Archive holds maps, letters, diaries, regimental histories, journals (complete run), photographs, large (although incomplete) database of officers and soldiers, made up from information taken from hundreds of documents, mainly contained within the regimental archives and information provided by family members.
Areas we hold information are The Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment), The 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot, The 95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot and Associated Militia and Rifle Corps. We have limited information relating to the Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters (WFR) Regiment and the Mercian Regiment.
We do not hold any personal service records. These are held at the National Archives for pre 1920s (0208 876 3444) or the Army Personnel Centre (0345 600 9663) for post 1920.
We do have an enquiry service which we ask for £20 per enquiry (per soldier). All funds raised from this service go directly back into the museum and preserve its collection for the future. If you wish to proceed with an enquiry, please complete the enquiry form and submit it/ print if off and post it along with your payment.
Payment can be by cheque drawn on a UK bank payable to ‘The Museum of the Mercian Regiment (WFR Collection)’
