The Mercian Regiment

When was the Mercian Regiment formed?

The Mercian Regiment is a British Army Infantry Unit, that was formed in 2007. The Cheshire Regiment, The Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regiment and The Staffordshire Regiment were amalgmated to form the Regiment.

They each made up a Battalion:

1 Mercian (Cheshires)

2 Mercian (Worcesters & Foresters)

3 Mercian (Staffords

4 Mercian (Reserves)

In 2014, 3 Mercian (Staffords) were disbanded. As a result the Regiment’s title changed to:

The Mercian Regiment (Cheshires, Worecesters & Foresters & the Staffords)

Where have the Mercian Regiment deployed?

Iraq 2003-11 (1 Mercian)

Afghanistan 2001-14 (1, 2 & 3 Mercian)

Cyprus 

Africia 

The Baltic

Belize

Canada

Germany

The Falklands

Gibralter

Mali
