The Sherwood Foresters Notts and Derbys
1st & 2nd Battalion The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment.
Henry served as a Sergeant with the 2nd Battalion in the Tirah Campaign from 1897-98. After this, he served in the Boer War from 1899-1902. He then transferred to the 1st Battalion, joining them at Rustenburg in South Africa on April 8th, 1902.
Whilst Henry was not permitted to travel with the battalion to Hong Kong, he was transferred to the Kings Own Scottish Borderers on September 1st, 1902.
On January 1st 1913, he was awarded the ‘Long Service and Good Conduct Medal’.
