Frederick John Atkins enlisted into the 5th Battalion. He landed in France on the 25th February 1915 and ended up in the trenches at Ploegsteert in early March. He stayed with the 5th Battalion throughout the Great War. He was also awarded the 1914-15 Star, Victory Medal and was mentioned in Despatches. He was discharged on the 13th March 1919 and worked for Officers Brewery after the war. Unfortunately, the museum only holds his War Medal.
