A Yorkshire man by birth, Private Stephen Boyden lived in Wakefield. Stephen enlisted in Wath-on-Dearne in Yorkshire into the 15th (Bantam) Battalion. The particular battalion was created as a result of the men in the battalion were all 5 Foot 3 and under.

Stephen was killed in action at Aveluy wood France on 23rd April 1918 and has no known grave
