95th (Derbyshire) Regimentof Foot
Captain George Brown enlisted into the 95th Derbyshire Regiment of Foot as a boy from the Duke of York School. He was promoted to Sergeant Major on the 16th May 1851, Adjutant on the 22nd April 1853, Lieutenant on the 18th November 1853, Captain in April 1855, and Paymaster on the 8th January 1856.
He served with the 95th in the Crimean War of 1854-55. He was left in hospital whilst the Regiment embarked for the Crimea, but rejoined them before Sebastopol on the 9th October 1854. He sadly died on the 8th October 1856 in Dublin.
