95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot
John Fanch was heavily involved with the 95th Foot during the Crimean War (1854-65) where he gained the medal and three clasps, Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol together with the Turkish Crimea Medal. He later went on to serve in the Indian Rebellion (1857-58) where he also received the Medal with clasp ‘Central India’, which is held in the Regimental Museum Collection. He served almost 20 years with the Regiment and was discharged due to ill health in March 1874 and retired to live in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. We do not hold his Crimean Medal.
