Private V. Foxon served with the 2nd Battalion The Sherwood Foresters and was present at Headquarters on presentation of new colours on the 5th February 1891 with “C” Coy.  By 1893, he had transferred to Army Reserve (Special Case sanctioned by C in C India) and by April 1893, he had embarked for England as Time Expired. 

He served with the 1st Battalion during the Boer War of 1899-1902 and was with “D” Coy. On the 1st July 1901, he transferred to Base Coy.
