45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot

Private Joshua Grundy was born in 1791 in Spondon, Derbyshire. He was 5 ft 6.5 inches and had blue hair, light brown hair and was a frame work knitter by trade.  

On the 1st April 1809, he volunteered into the 45th Nottinghamshire Regiment of Foot for limited service. He transferred from the Derbyshire Militia and was aged 18 years. On the 27th August 1809, he volunteered into the 1st Battalion and served in the Peninsula between 1809-1814. He was wounded in the left arm and right knee at Badajaoz. He was discharged on the 1st April 1816 and was granted a Chelsea pension on the 27th January 1852.
