Drummer Thomas Holland was born in approximately 1823 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. He enlisted in 1837 at the age of approximately 14 years. He served with the 95th Derbyshire Regiment of Foot during the Crimean War of 1854-65. He was discharged in 1856 at the age of 33 years.
