Private Titterton was born in 1892 and was a carpenter by trade. He enlisted with the 2/6th Battalion on 13th of November 1914 and given the regimental number 241127. 

 The 2/6th Battalion landed in Dublin, Ireland in April 1916, to suppress the Irish Rebellion. After the rebel surrender, at the Post Office in Sackville Street, Percy notably became one of the escorts for the rebels. He returned to England with his Battalion in January 1917 and was sent to Fovant on Salisbury Plain.  

Percy then saw active service in France landing on the 26th of  February 1917. He later then transferred to the 22nd Battalion of the London Regiment ‘The Queens’.  

Percy again saw service during World War Two in the Home Guard.  

Sadly, he died of natural causes on the 26th of May 1985 age 91 years. He had lived in Bedfordshire and was a lifelong member of the Sherwood Foresters Association.  

He was awarded both the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, for his service during the Great War. Percy was further awarded the Defence Medal for his role as a Home Guard.
